ARTIST RESIDENCY

Miller Lang Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting international contemporary artists working across disciplines.  We aim to foster a continuous and evolving exchange between artists, our local community and the broader global cultural landscape.

The Miller Lang Foundation Artist Residency programme co-exists with the Purple Co. in both its Creemore, Ontario and Carbondale, Colorado locations, where participants are invited to engage with the bustling agricultural activity on the farms, explore local communities and foster creative cultural exchanges with local and international arts organizations.  We use our network of museums, curators, commercial galleries and established artists to engage current residents and alumni in a community exchange, assisting with research, special projects and future endeavours.

Residencies are offered by invitation or through our open calls for applications, which take place twice annually. We accept a broad range of proposals, which could begin with the desire for a new studio experience that might impact an artist’s work or for a place to make art where there is direct response to the natural beauty of the environment. The expansiveness of the Creemore farm and Carbondale ranch means site-specific projects of any size are encouraged and supported with special grant funding directly from the Foundation, allowing for great scope and creativity. Applications with a strong community and legacy focus will be given special considerations. All applications will be reviewed by the Miller Lang Foundation’s Board of Directors and our Advisory Committee.

In the second phase of the Artist Residency programme, we will build out a mentorship programme, providing artists with a direct network to established working artists.  We look forward to accepting mentorship applications in the second year of the residency programme.  Please feel free to be in touch in the mean time for more information on how to participate in mentoring.

Successful applicants will receive transportation to their chosen residency, and as such, we encourage global applicants from all corners of the world. Applicants will also receive a stipend for living expenses, artist materials and any other miscellaneous costs outlined in the application proposal.

Applications are currently on hold. Please check back for updates.
